She put it down and picked up another one. It was called La Cage aux Folles. Oh, no, something French!

"Well, let's take a look at the classics," she said, putting the film down.

"Oh this one is perfect! You'll love it!" she said, picking up Harold and Maude. I had never seen that one, but I remembered my sister Joy once telling me it was good. Not that I usually put much stock in Joy's movie tips, but it seemed like it was the most promising choice so far, so I said okay.

"All the music is this great stuff by Cat Stevens," she said. "He's one of my favorite singers." So we rented the movie and went back to Andrea's house.

We set up the movie and sat down on the couch in the family room. Andrea's little brother and sister wanted to watch it with us, but Andrea's mom cleared them out of the room and told them to leave us alone.

I started wishing we had gone to a movie theater instead of Andrea's house after all. It hit me that if I managed to get up the courage to try to put my arm around her or something, I certainly couldn't do it there where someone from her family might come in at any moment! Sure enough Andrea's mom came by to bring us some chips just as the movie was starting.

It was okay actually since it kind of took the pressure off. I would have been too shy to try anything anyway, and this way I wouldn't end up spending the entire movie worrying about it. Maybe on our next date, I thought. The best I could do was to try to sit close enough to her that my leg was kind of touching her leg.

It turned out that the movie was really cool. I could see why Andrea would like it. The woman in it, Maude, was really eccentric and was always doing unusual and unexpected things. She was just like Andrea except that she was an old lady and not a cute girl. I figured I was kind of like Harold for wanting to go on her adventures with her and for falling in love with her.

Also she was right that the music was great!

When the movie was over, she showed me to the door. Again there was no question of trying anything with her family in the house. I was kind of disappointed by that because I wanted to kiss her so badly that I thought I might have been able to get up the courage to try, but not with her mom and dad in the next room!

"I had a great time, Jared," she said, and she squeezed my hand.

"Me too," I said. I didn't want to leave, but I figured I had to.

Driving home I was on cloud nine. I was so in love with her, and I was sure she liked me too. I figured it was only a matter of time before she was in my arms.

As soon as I got back into my own room I started to imagine all of the things I wanted to do but was too shy to try. I imagined holding her in my arms and kissing her. I imagined taking off her shirt and touching her breasts. I couldn't hold back. I imagined making love to her. Ah, it would be so beautiful if only it were true! I slept well that night and had plenty of pleasant dreams.
