Young Women's
Actually it was Lynn who had lent me the book in the first place. She apparently really liked it and had read it several times. I was happy to see her getting involved in a girl's adventure for once. It was a little disappointing (but not too surprising) to see her go straight back to romance novels just like that.
When I got home, my first thought was to go to my drawing board. I wanted to start on the painting of the Jaredite barges that I had planned to do. After that slumber party, I felt like I was farther behind on my goals than I had been a week earlier, and now there was only one week left before before the day I planned to bear my testimony for the ward. Painting a scene from the Book of Mormon seemed like a good way to get myself back on track.
I got out a clean sheet of paper and started sketching the barges. Then I added figures to indicate where the various people and animals would go -- all doing different things to prepare for their voyage. In the center I sketched the brother of Jared raising his arms to heaven.
After setting the scene and adding all of the details I could think of, I glanced down at some of the pages of my graphic novel. Without thinking, I grabbed a clean sheet of paper and put it over the first. I first sketched Wyxetta wearing my sparkling dress from our game of dress-up. Then I drew Adrianna in the foreground, dancing and laughing. I drew her elegant features and her short, curly hair. But this time, instead of coloring her hair black, I prepared my paints to color it a little bit auburn.
