Young Women's
I decided the scene I'd paint would be the people gathering their things and loading up the barges. Then I imagined Mom and Dad looking at my painting proudly and hanging it on the wall. I was so lost in my little fantasy that Mom had to get my attention to remind me that it was my turn again.
"And it came to pass that when they were buried in the deep there was no water that could hurt them, their vessels being tight like unto a dish, and also they were tight like unto the ark of Noah; therefore when they were encompassed about by many waters they did cry unto the Lord, and he did bring them forth again upon the top of the waters," I read.
Lynn went on and took her turn, reading about how they were being driven towards the promised land. Luckily we were near the end of the book -- we were already on the second story of the righteous crossing the ocean to the promised land of the New World.
To make up for my earlier inattention, I paid close attention to the rest of the story of how the people of Jared arrived safely in the New World and chose themselves a king. Then it was time for our family bedtime prayer. Dad called on Annette to say it.
"Our Dear Heavenly Father," she began, "We thank Thee for our many blessings. We thank Thee for our happy home and family. Please bless us to sleep well tonight and to have a good day tomorrow. We say these things in the name of Thy Son Jesus Christ, Amen."
